Parfait Kanam, MA, LCPC

Parfait is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) who works with children, adolescents, and young adults. With a natural curiosity and an open-hearted approach, he brings warmth and creativity into the therapy room. Having experienced multiple transitions himself, like immigrating to the U.S. and adapting to a new academic and cultural landscape, Parfait understands firsthand how overwhelming change can be. That lived experience fuels his passion for guiding clients through their complex journeys.

Parfait earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and completed his Master of Arts in Counseling at Northwestern University. His clinical experience spans private practice and higher levels of care, including Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for both adolescents and adults. Across various settings, he has developed a flexible, integrative style that draws from CBT, DBT, REBT, Person-Centered Therapy, and Play Therapy, tailoring his approach to what resonates most with each individual.

Parfait believes in making therapy an engaging and collaborative experience. Whether that means navigating cognitive preconceptions with humor, turning DBT skills into an interactive game, or incorporating elements like psychodrama or role-playing, the goal is to make healing feel relevant and empowering. He also values the role of the family dynamic in the client’s growth and believes that individuals grow best within nurturing relational environments.
