Julia Yaccarino, MA, LSW

Julia is a licensed social worker who earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Loyola University of Chicago. She earned her master’s degree in social work at the University of Chicago. Julia has worked with children and teens in various educational settings ranging from preschool to high school.

 

Julia has always been passionate about working with children and families. She specializes in supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, eating disorders, behavioral and emotional regulation, challenges with disability management, and school-related issues.

 

Julia firmly believes in creating a non-judgmental and safe therapeutic environment. She strives to develop strong, meaningful client relationships and values honest communication with families.

 

Julia often utilizes components from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy. She believes in implementing strength-based and person-in-environment perspectives. She enjoys play therapy and conducting creative activities to teach children about their emotions and to help adolescents and teens communicate their feelings.

 

Julia enjoys running, reading, cooking, traveling, and spending quality time with friends and family.
