Lily Kanefield, MSW
Lily is a dynamic and compassionate social worker with a unique background rooted in both education and social work. After graduating from the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in K-12 special education, Lily honed her skills as a diverse learner teacher and interventionist in Chicago Public Schools for seven years. During this time, she cultivated inclusive environments where every individual felt valued and supported, fostering strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Driven by a passion for promoting mental health and advocacy, Lily earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Missouri- Columbia. Thereafter, she obtained her Type 73 school social work certification to augment her ability to support and advocate for children, adolescents, and their families through the 504 and IEP process.
In her practice, Lily affirms all identities and creates a safe and inclusive space where clients feel heard, understood, and respected. She utilizes empathy, cultural competence, and a strength-based approach to tailor treatment to meet each client’s unique needs and goals. Whether offering individual therapy sessions or providing family support grounded in evidence-based models including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Lily is dedicated to guiding individuals to explore their challenges, cultivate resilience, and work toward self-discovery and empowerment.
Outside of her work, Lily loves spending time outdoors, taking strolls by the lake, and being in the beauty of nature. She values moments with her loved ones through baking and travel adventures. Lily’s diverse interests not only bring joy to her life but also inform her approach to therapy, infusing it with warmth, genuineness, and a profound understanding of the human experience.
