Theresa Buch, MS, LCPC

Theresa is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from The Institute for the Psychological Sciences in Washington, D.C. She also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a Minor in Community Health Education from Illinois State University. Since 2013 Theresa has worked with children, teens, adults, and their families in the school, community mental health, and residential settings.


Theresa has experience in working with trauma survivors, clients struggling with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, substance abuse, impulsivity, defiant behavior, and low-self-esteem issues. She utilizes evidenced-based treatments drawing from the Internal Family Systems Model, DBT, CBT, Mindfulness-based therapies, and overall works from a psychodynamic lens. She emphasizes an integrative and collaborative approach to therapy depending on a client’s unique needs and goals.


Theresa believes that change occurs through a caring and trusting therapeutic relationship cultivated by empathy, respect, and understanding. Whether addressing daily life issues or more severe psychological concerns she focuses on increasing clients’ self-awareness, facilitating personal growth, and fostering enrichment in relationships.


In her free time, Theresa enjoys riding her bike around Chicago, trying new restaurants with friends, and cooking with her family.
