Maria Millett, MSW, LCSW

Maria earned her Masters of Social Work degree from Michigan State University and completed her undergraduate studies at Hope College with a bachelor’s degree in social work. Maria considers herself a lifelong learner and has obtained professional development certifications in mental health first aid, nurturing parenting, clinical social work with families, parent management training, Early Pathways Home-Based Health Services for Young Children, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and many more. Maria has worked professionally with children and families in various capacities for over 8 years and is passionate and motivated to address each family with acceptance and care. Therapy is an opportunity for growth, and she is grateful to have the opportunity to gently guide each family and individual along their own personal path to success. Maria aims to offer a compassionate and supportive approach to help her client’s feel empowered, and hopeful that reaching their goals is possible. Whether client’s are searching for behavior change, emotion regulation skills, improved communication, healthier relationships, or any type of shift, they are encouraged to speak freely and know they are not alone.


Maria tailors the techniques and strategies she uses with her clients to fit the specific strengths and needs that are brought into sessions. She helps clients problem-solve through Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Play Therapy and other strength-based approaches. She has worked with all ages, specializing in individuals struggling with low self-esteem, life transitions, depression, anxiety, bullying, PTSD, and other behavioral issues. Maria believes each individual has the power and ability to determine what they uniquely need to reach their goals. Maria brings her passion for helping others into session, while providing a non-judgmental space for exploring practical ways to grow. It is her priority to bring her genuine self when meeting with clients to help them feel comfortable and safe in making the positive changes they desire in their lives.


In Maria’s free time, she enjoys taking her puppy to the dog beach, cooking, hiking, camping, traveling, attending concerts, and spending time with family and friends.
